The Quest Theater series was created for 9-12 year olds as they move beyond books for early readers. The series introduces children to a new level of problem solving while sparking a deep interest in the world as a whole. As each reader gets a better grasp on their abilities to follow and retain the information that they read it becomes more possible for them to see and feel beyond their present situation. While reading the Quest Theater series, the reader becomes increasingly aware of the variety and diversity that exists in life even though they cannnot always see it with their own eyes or touch it with their own hands.
Pearl Quest and her younger brothers Bernie and Oscar have recently moved to Edenton, Oregon with their parents. They feel lonely and isolated in the small, dreary town where their father grew up. For the next year their mother will be spending most of her time in another city, finishing her nursing degree while their father works a new job for the local lumber company. For the Quest kids, this change means that they’ll have to spend every afternoon with their mysterious grandfather in the run-down theater that he is struggling to maintain. Alone and miserable since their Grandma disappeared over ten years ago, Grandpa seems cold and uninterested in the kids.
While at the Quest Theater, the kids accidentally stumble onto one of the greatest secrets they could possibly imagine. Will they ever be able to tell their grandfather that they know what he’s hiding? And will this secret help them find their missing grandmother?
The secret the children have discovered takes them not only around the world but through time as they find themselves in every type of adventure they can imagine. In each time and place they find themselves, they are required to use creativity and logic to solve their problems and reach their goals. Their adventures foster the spirit that leads readers young and old to want to learn more about not only their own culture but other cultures and historical events that make up our fascinating world.
The question is, are they simply using their imaginations or truly experiencing history each day they enter the theater.
